| Don't let a piece of paper decide your life. |
"Congratulations! We are delighted to inform you that you have been offered a place at XXX college..."
For many of you they will begin like this. However, out of the billions of applicants out there, the majority shall also receive a different kind of letter that instead of offering congratulations, offers you their thanks for applying and wishes you the best of luck for your future (a kind apology).
After toiling through the entire applications process and receiving such news is disappointing to say the least. But, you know what?
You were refused because there is something better waiting for you out there. And very soon, you will find it.
Your first step now, is to realize that this setback is the catalyst to your success. All that stuff you learnt while applying? None of it is a waste and trust me when I say, that you will surely need those skills again.
Next, you need to figure out your game plan. Think about the options ahead of you. Will you enroll somewhere else and apply again, or will you use your time for another cause instead? Maybe you want to finish your degree at home, which, by the way, is also a perfectly acceptable path. There are many ways in which you can proceed and only you can choose the right path for you.
The most important thing to remember is that no matter where you are and what you are doing, it is not the institution that will grant your success, it is you. Keep working on that new project, begin the charity you've always wanted to give! No matter what you do, keep moving forward. Excel where you are.
Don't let a piece of paper decide your life. This one decision is not the end of your world - it's just the edge of the beginning :) Don't stop. Go make them proud.
